“We are extremely proud of Owen’s accomplishment,” says Peter Nielsen, director of Bayview Village Tennis Camp. “On top of being a great teacher and trainer at our spring and summer tennis camps, he is still very competitive, which may be part of the reason he was able to be victorious.”

Pellew is also being featured on this month’s cover of the Ontario Tennis Association’s yearbook, alongside Canadian tennis star Milos Raonic.

“You don’t win that many championships by accident,” Nielsen adds. “It takes a certain kind of attitude, a certain kind of preparation, and a commitment to the sport in order to earn that much success.”

Nielsen explains that these same characteristics are what convinced him to hire Pellew to coach at Bayview Village Tennis Camp and instruct children on what it takes to be competitive. Pellew has responded by bringing that same intensity to the spring and summer tennis camps, providing young tennis players with invaluable instruction.

“It is hoped that a coach can help players get better, but there are certain intangible qualities Owen brings that go beyond tennis, and that’s one of the many reasons we’re glad to have him on board,” Nielsen concludes.
